Key Unions Endorse Democrat Susan Jordan for State Assembly

Susan Jordan, the leading candidate for the 35th State Assembly District in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties, has been endorsed by key unions representing tens of thousands of local workers and working families.

The Ventura County Deputy Sheriffs Association, United Food and Commercial Workers #770, Communications Workers of America #9575, and International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local #46 endorsed Democrat Susan Jordan for the seat being vacated by Assemblymember Pedro Nava next year due to term limits.

“Susan Jordan has the integrity and experience to cut through the gridlock in Sacramento,” said UFCW #770 President Rick Icaza. “She stands up for middle-class working families – not the special interests,” he continued. “In the State Assembly, she will be an effective leader for jobs and economic recovery, quality schools, better health care and environmental protection to preserve and improve our quality of life.”

“Susan is honest, direct and a great communicator,” added Matt Findlay, President of the Ventura County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association. “Her record pushing Sacramento to make the tough decisions for the right reasons demonstrates that she is the best candidate, hands down. Now is the time we need representatives like Susan Jordan,” Findlay added.

“We need innovative leaders like Susan Jordan to help the economy recover in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties,” concluded Lisa Shafer, President of Communications Workers of America #9575. “Working families can count on her to lead the effort to create quality jobs that make sense for our region.”

Susan Jordan is an award-winning environmental leader, a businesswoman, health advocate and mother.  With over 35 years of experience in business, health care and non-profit coastal protection advocacy, Jordan has devoted her life to the betterment of her community and the protection of working families.

She was previously endorsed by Assemblymember Pedro Nava, Oxnard Police Chief John Crombach, Oxnard Mayor Tom Holden, former Santa Barbara Mayor Harriett Miller, former Santa Barbara Supervisor Susan Rose, California Inspector General Laura Chick, many other local elected officials and Assemblymembers Jim Beall, Ana Caballero, Wes Chesbro, Kevin de Leon, Hector de la Torre, Mary Hayashi, Jared Huffman, Fiona Ma and Mary Salas.
