I Will Fight for You

Dear Friends

California government is broken, and I want to help fix it. That’s why I’m running to represent Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties in the State Assembly.
Our schools and universities, transportation infrastructure, health care and the environment are suffering under a dysfunctional and unaccountable state government plagued by budget stalemates and powerful special interests. We as families, small business owners, citizens and taxpayers pay the price every day.
Why do I think I can make a difference?
I’ve proven that I stand up to and overcome the special interests.
I’m not a typical politician.
And my record as an advocate for our environment and our health, my experience in business and my life experience as a parent give me a rich understanding of the critical needs of our state and the desire and dedication to tackle the tough issues and reach real solutions.
• As the founder of the California Coastal Protection Network and co-founder of Vote the Coast, I have taken large-scale, precedent-setting action to protect our environment – including landmark victories to stop new oil drilling off Santa Barbara and to stop a poorly planned natural gas terminal off the Ventura County coast.
• Always a champion for women’s issues, I was director of Community Relations for the Women’s Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
• As a former partner in a business consulting firm, I have a strong background in management and the experience to build partnerships with the private sector to bring jobs to our communities.
• As chair of the Santa Barbara County Planning Commission, I tackled regional planning concerns with an analytical and balanced approach.
I have the background, the strength and the drive to do what is needed in Sacramento. I understand that taking the politically safe road does not always serve the public good and I have never been afraid to take on the special interests and fight for what is right.
Please join me in my efforts to effect positive change.
Best,
Susan Jordan
