The quote I have shared above from this great leader has motivated me throughout my life and has never been far from my thoughts in all my non-profit and legislative work.

As we take time out today to reflect on the great legacy Dr. King left us, let us first and foremost remember the courageous advocacy for which he was known. Speaking out for what you believe in can come at great cost, but it is those who lift their voices against injustice without fear who become the vehicles for great change.

Our state needs such strong voices today.

Nearly 50 years have passed since Dr. King spoke of his dream for America from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. His passion and advocacy for a better world continue to inspire me and I will be a voice for change and wisdom in the decisions which affect us all.
