Dear Friends,
I am writing this Thursday morning (6-10-10) after spending yesterday on a short scenic trip with Pedro. We have had so few moments like these together in the past year and a half and we realized today what a blessing it was to just be together.
Running for State Assembly has also been an incredible journey. And while I did not win, the people I’ve met and their many stories and concerns have touched my heart and inspired me. I was incredibly fortunate to have so many wonderful people around me who believed in me and worked so hard on my behalf.
Your commitment and support has been phenomenal and I will forever be appreciative. Our win in Ventura County was very important to me and I believe a recognition of our hard work and the many tough coastal protection fights I have taken on around the state, including stopping the BHP Billiton Liquefied Natural Gas terminal off the coast of Oxnard.
During my campaign for Assembly, I also undertook stopping the Plains Exploration Production Company offshore oil drilling proposal which would have been the first new offshore oil drilling in California State waters in 40 years. I am very proud that working together we were able to stop this misguided proposal. I am afraid that there are going to many more challenges like this to face, and I will continue to work hard every day to protect our coast.
My decision to run was driven by a passion to do right, to speak up for the most vulnerable, and to stop the special interests from riding roughshod over everyday hardworking Californians. I’m a fighter and I promise you that I am going to continue to fight for the people of this District and all of California regardless of what position I occupy.
It is important as we head into the general election that we work together to elect a Democrat in this seat and also in other races. With the passage of Prop. 14 which creates an open primary in 2012 and the upcoming redistricting, the political landscape will be changing and presenting new challenges for the future.
I will be staying touch and working with you again on future projects and elections. Please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Best,
Susan Jordan

As published in the Ventura County Star
Public thanks to Susan Jordan for her wisdom and leadership, demonstrated again — it took courage to disagree with environmental groups she formerly led and worked with.

For the Ventura County Star article on the attack mailer from my opponent, go here.
Dear Supporters, Colleagues and Friends,
I thought I knew Das Williams better than this, but perhaps I should have known better after he jumped into the State Assembly race after previously endorsing me – because of my opposition to the PXP oil [...]

In a desperate campaign ploy, State Assembly candidate Das Williams – a longstanding cheerleader for the first new offshore oil drilling lease in California State waters in 41 years – has issued a press release calling for a moratorium on new offshore oil leasing.
It’s unclear how Williams can call for a moratorium on “new offshore [...]
